ATHELSTAN FESTIVAL OF

SPEECH AND DEBATE

We are excited to announce that there
will be a KS3 Athelstan Festival of
Speech and Debate (AFSAD) in July.

The event will give students a chance to
engage in healthy competition whilst
also celebrating the spoken (and written)
word. There are four categories students
can enter:

 Speech

 Debate

 Dramatic reading
 Poetry recital

All our schools have been inundated
with entries and students have started
rehearsing with great enthusiasm
leading up to the main event on July 14 th
at Malmesbury School, with finalists
performing in front of a live audience.

The hope is that this can continue for
years to come, rotating around each of
the schools playing host.
This event promises to showcase a
range of skills and interests and to be a
fantastic post pandemic affair.
