The Athelstan Trust Academies

Malmesbury School

Head Teacher’s Welcome

At Malmesbury School our vision is to be a happy, caring and excellent community. We are proud to be a truly comprehensive school providing an education of the highest quality for all the students within Malmesbury and the surrounding area.

In the last Ofsted inspection in May 2012, the inspectors found that in all areas the school is ‘Outstanding’. One parental comment summarises what many others say; ‘This is a wonderful school. It nurtures, cares and educates the children’. The inspector reported that; “Relationships are excellent and high levels of respect are apparent between students and staff”. After observing many lessons they also found that “The quality of teaching is remarkably high because of high expectations of leaders and teachers of themselves”.

In August 2011 we converted to become a ‘New style academy’, in July 2013 we were awarded National Support School status and in September 2014 we became a Teaching School and established the Avon Teaching School Alliance. In March 2015 we established the Athelstan Multi-Academy Trust when we became the sponsor of The Dean Academy in Gloucestershire.

We hope that you will be able to spare some time to learn more about Malmesbury School from our website and to link into the interactive aspects of our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). We would be delighted to welcome you to our school if you would like to come and visit us.

Bradon Forest School

Head Teacher’s Welcome

At Bradon Forest we want to ensure every young person leaves the school equipped and ready for the future. To this end we place the highest priority on the learning opportunities, both academic and extracurricular, that we provide for our students.

We know we are fortunate to work with such able and talented students. We thank parents for the trust placed on us and work to build a community of students, parents and staff that celebrates and share the successes of young students – whether they are academic, sporting, cultural, artistic or charitable.

The school is a happy, friendly and supportive environment which enables students to flourish and enjoy their education. Young people leave Bradon Forest confident and successful. They are respected and respectful with excellent behaviour attracting quality teachers.

We have been on a remarkable journey over the last two years which has been reflected in the recent Ofsted report. The school has achieved ‘Good’ in all areas.

Inspectors commented on, ‘The warm relationship that exists between teachers and students, a reflection of mutual trust and respect. The students at Bradon Forest are known as individuals and cared for by staff who value the relationships they share with them. These positive relationships reflect a warm, welcoming school where they are all respected regardless of background or circumstance.’

The Dean Academy will extend your child’s world through an appropriate balance of academic, artistic, sporting and cultural experiences. Our focus on relentless school improvement will ensure that your child’s progress is closely monitored to ensure that s/he is successful, challenged, engaged and, most important of all, enjoys the whole learning experience.

The academy provides a caring, supportive environment, ensuring that your child is happy and safe and able to make the most of the exciting opportunities on offer to 16 and beyond. The curriculum has been developed to enable every child to develop leadership and team building skills, to grow in self-confidence and develop self-esteem.

Ultimately, our aim is to watch each child grow into a successful, confident and articulate young adult, equipped for life beyond secondary education and with a desire to understand the world around them that will never diminish.

We would welcome the opportunity to show you our academy, to discuss the changes that are being introduced and to work with you to fulfil our shared ambitions for your child.
